EUGENE LAMERE obituary

ROCKY BOY - Eugene Joseph LaMere, 63, of Rocky Boy, a retired heavy equipment operator who served in the Army from 1966 to 1968, died of natural causes Thursday, June 16, 2005, at Northern Montana Hospital.

A wake was held Friday at the Rocky Boy Catholic Church. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Rocky Boy Catholic Church with burial by the honor guard

in the Rocky Boy Cemetery with military honors.

Eugene was born on June 15, 1942, to Josephine and Victor LaMere Sr. at Fort Belknap. After basic training at Fort Lewis, Wash., he returned home and in 1968 married Betty Lee Henderson. The couple had four children and were married for 27 years. They later divorced. During their marriage, Eugene served in Vietnam.

Eugene was employed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs for 24 years as a heavy equipment operator. He also worked for the Rocky Boy Health Board and as an ambulance driver. He did ranch work in his younger days and housing repairs. Eugene enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He loved riding horse, roping and rodeos. He loved to eat at the Four B's Restaurant and harass the waitresses. He also enjoyed gambling and playing poker and keno machines. Eugene loved to be around people and had many friends.

Eugene was preceded in death by his father, Victor LaMere Sr .; son, Eugene LaMere Jr .; brothers, Robert Lee LaMere, Melvin LaMere, Victor LaMere Jr. and Dennis Sangrey Sr.

Survivors include his mother, Josephine St. Marks of Rocky Boy; sisters, Victoria (Peter) Demontiney, Betty J. LaMere, Mildred (Wilson) Mitchell and Judy (Martin) Parker, all of Rocky Boy; brothers, Billy Leon LaMere, Michael (Delphine) Sangrey and Larry Denny Sr., all of Rocky Boy; daughters, Ronna I. (Rodney Sr.) Turntoes, Jody (Duane) Raining Bird and Billie Jo LaMere (Carter) Coffee, all of Rocky Boy; son, Isaiah Joseph Turntoes of Rocky Boy; grandchildren, Ronni Jo LaMere, Rodney B. Turntoes, Shaneen D. Raining Bird, Bridgett Rose Raining Bird, Kylee Rae Raining Bird, Lane Louis Turntoes, Sasha Lynn Coffee and Jerod Reed Coffee, all of Rocky Boy; and nine great-grandchildren.

Services and arrangements were entrusted to Holland and Bonine Funeral Home.
