BIG SANDY - Mary Whitlatch Marten, 76, formerly of Chinook, died Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at the Big Sandy Medical Center due to natural causes.
A funeral Mass will be Monday at 11 a.m. in St. Margaret Mary's Catholic Church in Big Sandy with burial following at 3 p.m. in Kuper Memorial Cemetery at Chinook. Rosary will be recited Sunday at 7 p.m. in St. Margaret Mary's Catholic Church.
Mary was born Aug. 26, 1928, in Chinook to Barney and Adeline (Kuper) Hermes. She was raised in Chinook and attended Chinook schools.
Mary married Kenneth Whitlatch on Aug. 26, 1948, in Chinook. Kenneth died in October of 1974, and Mary married Robert Marten of Big Sandy on Feb. 25, 1984, in Chinook.
Mary enjoyed flowers, gardening, needle point, playing the piano and being with people. She was a member of St. Margaret Mary's Catholic Church; St. Gabriel's Catholic Church and the Home Demonstration club.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Marten of Big Sandy; daughters, Carol Willoughby of Boulder and Doreen Olean of Bozeman; son, Bob Whitlatch of Missoula; brother, Joe Hermes of Suquamish, Wash.; sisters, Betty Spring of Chinook and Evelyn Keller of Corning, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to Big Sandy Medical Center, St. Margaret Mary's Catholic Church or one's choice.
Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
