FORT BENTON - Katherine T. Larkin, 72, of Fort Benton died Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at Missouri River Medical Center of natural causes.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Fort Benton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Howard P. Hunter officiating.
She was born Sept. 7, 1932, at Great Falls to Andreas and Helena (Miller) Trunk.
She attended and graduated from Big Sandy High School.
Katherine attended Northern Montana College in Havre and University of Montana in Missoula. She received her teaching degree.
She taught in Big Sandy, Coffee Creek and Great Falls. Her last position was at the Lowell Elementary School, where she taught from 1952 to 1976.
She married Henry Larkin in May 1955. They later divorced.
She enjoyed painting and crafting. She was an artist and a good cook. She cooked on the B&K ranch.
She was a fighter to the end, loved life to the fullest and had a great love of animals. Spunky was her favorite horse. She was real country, enjoyed riding on the river, and enjoyed the great outdoors.
She had a great love for children and enjoyed having her grandchildren for the summer. One of her favorite sayings was "you made my day."
She was preceded in death by her father, Andy Trunk; children, Gary, Diane and Jolene; and three premature infants.
Survivors include her daughter, Cheri (Lance) May of Winston; son, Jerry (Tami) Larkin of Farmersville, Texas; mother, Helena Trunk of Fort Benton; sisters, Shirley Ramer of Big Sandy and Joy Crawford of Loma; brothers, Don Trunk of San Diego, Calif., and Oscar (Emily) Trunk of Fort Benton; and five grandchildren.
Benton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
