In its last appearance at the State Class B Track Meet, the Chinook High School track team made the most of it, despite having just a handful of competitors. The Sugarbeeters qualified five girls for the state meet in Bozeman, but those five girls were good enough to score 27 points to finish seventh in the overall team standings.
Missoula Loyola won the girls team title with 68 points, while Seeley-Swan was second with 62.
On the meet's opening day, standout senior Brittany Williams got things going for Chinook, finishing third in the discus with a toss of 108-11. Junior Crystal Roseberry also reached the medal stand, finishing fourth in an extremely tough long jump event. Roseberry recorded a leap of 16-0.
The Beeters qualified Cheyanne Hamilton for the finals in the 200 meter dash as did the 1,600 relay team of Jaque McMaster, Brittany MacLean, Crystal Roseberry and Hamilton.
On Saturday, Roseberry bounced back from sub-par performances at the district and divisional meet in the triple jump, finishing third with a leap of 33-9. Williams also reached the medal stand for the second time, picking up a second in the shot put with a toss of 36-5. Williams was less than a foot away from winning the event.
The Beeters' team of McMaster, MacLean, Roseberry and Hamilton capped off the meet with a sixth-place finish in the 1,600 relay, despite battling some illness. Their finish allowed every Sugarbeeter to earn medal in the meet.
