CLEO MORSE COX obituary

Cleo Larson Morse Cox, 89, of Havre died Thursday, April 21, 2005, at Northern Montana Care Center of natural causes.

Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today at the Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church with the Revs. Brad Ulgenes and Catherine Card officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will be held immediately after the graveside service at First Lutheran Church.

Cleo Christina Larson was born Oct. 4, 1915, to Theo and Allena (Gerky) Larson at Cottonwood. She grew up in Cottonwood and attended Cottonwood School. In about 1927, her parents purchased a home in North Havre.

On Sept. 15, 1936, she married Leo Morse. They lived and farmed at Simpson, where they raised their two children. In 1958, they purchased a home in Havre and lived there in the winter and on the farm in the summer. Cleo worked on the farm with Leo. She belonged to the Cottonwood Ladies Aid, Cottonwood Home Demonstration and was a 4-H leader. She was a wonderful cook and seamstress, sewing all of her daughter's prom dresses. Cleo also loved cutting hair and giving permanents to her many friends and family. She and Leo enjoyed going to dances and rodeos.

Leo died in 1972, and in 1976, Cleo married Glenn Cox. She and Glenn traveled a lot and spent most of their summers at Lake Five. Glenn died in 1996. Cleo spent her last years at the Eagles Manor and the Northern Montana Care Center, where she had many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Leo Morse in 1972, and Glenn Cox in 1996; sister, Lorna Wattam; brother, Ed Larson; three brothers-in-law; and one sister- in-law.

Survivors include her daughter, Marlie (Dean) Risa of Billings; son, Daryl (Cheryl) Morse of Havre; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Earl (Martha) Larson, Vernon (Julia) Larson and Everett (Elaine) Larson, all of Havre; four sisters-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews; several stepgrandchildren; and many friends and caregivers from the Eagles Manor and Northern Montana Care Center.

Memorials in Cleo's honor may be made to First Lutheran Church, 303 Sixth Ave., Havre, MT 59501, to the Eagles Manor, 20 W. Third St., Havre, MT 59501 or to a memorial of one's choice.
