MALTA - Doris E. Potter, 78, a retired nurse, died Sunday, March 27, 2005, at the Phillips County Good Samaritan Center of natural causes.
A funeral service was held Friday at Adams Funeral Chapel in Malta. Interment was in Malta Cemetery.
Doris was born Aug. 22, 1926, in Canon City, Colo., to Lewis and Clara B. (Marlett) Henry. Her family moved to the Bennett Lake community in 1927. She graduated from Malta High School and attend the Sacred Heart School of Nursing in Havre and graduated with an LPN degree.
She lived in Washington for a while during World War II, where she baby-sat nieces and nephews. It was there she met her future husband, Edgar Potter.
After his discharge from the Navy, they were married in Malta on Aug. 2, 1945. They lived in Ohio and returned to Malta in 1960. Doris worked for many years as a nurse at the Phillips County Hospital.
Doris enjoyed being with her family, reading and playing cards. She had the New To You Store from 1979 to 1985. She gave it up due to her health.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Potter, in 2001; parents; daughter, Patty Palm, in 1968; son, Bill Potter, in 1986; brother, Donald Henry; granddaughter, Kristen Taylor; and twin infant grandsons.
Survivors include her daughters, Alice (Dan) Soennichsen of Great Falls, Susan (Ron) Kinder of Great Falls, Sally Cremer of Mandan, N.D., Jenny (Dean) Pearson of Malta, Linda Stone of Lolo, Doris Potter of Missoula; sons, Allan Potter of Mountain Home, Idaho, Edward Potter of Butte, Joe (Ammie) Potter of Missoula; sister, Marlette Baeth, Clarabel Score and Alice Hanson, all of Malta, and Margaret Anderson of Sacramento, Calif.
