LEWISTOWN - David L. Moodie, 73, died Saturday, March 12, 2005, at Deaconess Hospital in Billings due to injuries suffered in an accidental fall.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Fergus Center for the Performing Arts at Fergus County High School. Interment with military honors by Fergus American Legion Post No. 16 will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
David was born March 13, 1931, in Hewitt, Minn., to Alexander and Agnes (Erickson) Moodie. He graduated from Herman High School and served in the Air Force from 1950-54.
On Sept. 10, 1954, he married Beverly Brunkow in Herman, Minn.
Dave's father founded Moodie Implement in 1932 in Hewitt. Dave worked with his father throughout his childhood and joined him full time after his military service. In 1966, Dave and his father bought Martin Farm Supply in Lewistown. Dave's son Jim joined the family business in 1982. In the 1980s, Dave and Bev had a farm at Windham, where they enjoyed farming and raising cattle. In July 1992, Dave and Bev moved to Pierre, S.D., to open Moodie Implement Inc. with their son Rob. In 1998, Rob and Dave purchased the John Deere dealership in Philip, S.D. In 1999, Dave help his son Jim with the purchase of the John Deere dealership in Havre. In January 2004, Dave and Bev returned to Lewistown to live.
Dave was a member of the United Methodist Church and held many position through the years, including building committee chairman. He also was a former board member of the First National Bank, past chairman of the Lewistown School Board, member of Kiwanis and Elks, and a volunteer firefighter in Herman, Minn.
Dave enjoyed hunting, flying, walking and family time.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents; sisters-in-law, Doris Moodie and Fran Moodie; and nephew, Chuck Moodie.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly of Lewistown; daughters, Darla (Don) Black of Great Falls and Susan (Dean) Williams of Puyallup, Wash.; sons, James (Cindy) Moodie of Lewistown and Robert (Audrey) Moodie of Pierre, S.D.; brother, Tom Moodie of Newport News, Va.; brother-in-law, Don (Laura) Brunkow of Sheridan, Wyo.; 14 grandchildren; a nephew and a niece.
Memorials may be made to the Lewistown United Methodist Church, United Methodist Church in Pierre, S.D., or the David L. Moodie Agriculture Scholarship Fund.
