CURTISS BRENDEN obituary

SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Curtiss L. Brenden, 56, of Sheridan Wyo., died Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, at the VA Medical Center in Sheridan.

A funeral service was held March 1. Interment will be in Homestead.

Curtiss was born Aug. 22, 1948, in Williston, N.D., to Vernie and Lorraine (McKenzie) Brenden. He grew up on the family farm near Homestead until the family moved to Froid and then to Dodson in 1963. He graduated from Dodson High School in 1967. Curtiss enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on the carrier Kitty Hawk. After the service, he attended college in Denver and then Northern Montana College in Havre.

Curtiss worked for GTA in Chinook and Centennial Mills in Box Elder.

He married Deanna Werbelow on May 31, 1980, in Kremlin. They lived in Homestead, where he managed the Farmers Elevator. In 1989, he went to work for the USDA as a warehouse examiner. They lived in Williston until he retired in 2001. They moved to Sheridan in 2002.

Curtiss was a member of a 12-step program, American Legion, Lions Club and Glory Dei Lutheran Church in Williston.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, pinochle, bowling and traveling.

Curtiss was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Gobin; and twin brothers, David and Joseph.

Survivors include his wife, Deanna of Sheridan; son, Lance (April) Phillips of Sheridan; brothers, Robin (Pam) Brenden of Plentywood and Larry (Mayumi) Brenden of Albuquerque, N.M.; sisters, Nancy (Stan) Hansen of Paulden, Ariz., and Verna (Kenny) Mesa , Ariz.; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
