Matthew Tyson Yates IV, 26, of Havre died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, at his residence. The cause of death is under investigation by the Hill County coroner's office.
A funeral service will be 6 p.m. Tuesday at Holland & Bonine Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Rowlie Hutton officiating. Visitation is 6 to 9 p.m. Monday and
from 1 p.m. to service time Tuesday at the Holland & Bonine Funeral Chapel. Cremation will follow the service and interment of the cremains will take place at a later date. A luncheon will be held at the VFW Club following the service.
Matthew was born on June 2, 1978, in Sheffield, Ala., to George Tyson Yates and Nancy Ellen (Smith) Yates. He attended and graduated from Comfrey High School in Comfrey Minn. In 1996, he moved to Havre. He attended MSU-Northern for graphic design. At the time of his death, he was employed at Bull Hook Group Home.
His hobbies were art and playing his guitar for his daughters.
He was preceded in death by his father and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Survivors include his daughters, Lily and Genesis of Havre; mother, Nancy Smith of Maricopa, Ariz.; sisters, Candance (Shawn) Burrington of Havre and Madolyn Veerkamp of Indianapolis, Ind.; six nephews; two nieces; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to a trust fund for his two daughters, c/o Nancy Smith, P.O. Box 915, Maricopa, AZ 85239 and/or Bull Hook Group Home, 920 Bull Hook Road, Havre, MT 59501.
