NORA H. KOEFOD obituary

Nora H. Koefod, 82, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, at her daughter's home in Havre after a two-year battle with lung cancer. Her memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church with the Revs. Brad Ulgenes and Catherine Card officiating. Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery. A fellowship will be held immediately after the service at the Duck Inn Olympic Room.

Nora was born April 30, 1922, in Big Sandy to Einar and Ona (Johnson) Berg. She was raised and educated in Big Sandy and graduated from Big Sandy High School. Nora attended Northern Montana College and graduated with a bachelor's degree in education. She taught school in Miles City, Glasgow and Havre.

She married Donald O. Koefod March 28, 1948, in Havre at First Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Havre and raised two children.

Nora was a very talented and gifted musician, and played the piano beautifully. She enjoyed a wide variety of music and was a regular attendee of the community concerts.

Nora was an active member of First Lutheran Church, serving on several committees including the Stevens Ministry. She also was a member and past president of the Daughters of the Nile, Eastern Star, the Women's Investment Club and PEO Sisterhood Chapter V, and she served on the NMC Foundation Board. She enjoyed golfing, playing the piano, music, the arts, bridge and writing poetry. She loved to travel to Arizona and Whitefish, and was an avid fan of the San Francisco Giants baseball team.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald O. Koefod, in 1993; a son, Mark Stephen Koefod, in 1976; and a brother, Ivan Berg, in 1993.

Nora is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Tom) Healy of Havre; sisters, Bertha McCahan of Kalispell and Helen Moze of Missoula; a very special friend, Henry Drga of Big Sandy; two grandson; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials in Nora's honor may be made to First Lutheran Church, Eagle Mount of Great Falls, the Montana State University-Northern Foundation Koefod Endowment of the Fine Arts, or to a memorial of one's choice.

Services and arrangements are under the direction of Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
