DOROTHY ANN McCORMICK obituary

KREMLIN - Dorothy Ann McCormick, 83, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, at the Northern Montana Care Center of natural causes.

Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church in Havre with the Rev. Brian Pederson officiating. Burial will be held at the Highland Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will be held at the Duck Inn Mediterranean Room immediately after the graveside service.

Dorothy was born Aug. 31, 1921, in Gildford. She was the daughter of Harry W. and Rose (Vosen) Cady. She attended schools in Kremlin and Gildford, graduating from Gildford High School in 1939. She attended Northern Montana College until she transferred to Glasgow and attended a welding trade school. Dorothy moved to Long Beach, Calif., where she was employed as a welder at McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft Co. during World War II. Dorothy always challenged traditional views of women throughout her life. Although she was a wonderful homemaker, she worked outside as much as she could and was mechanically gifted.

On Oct. 27, 1946, she married John McCormick. The couple lived in Dupuyer, where they invested in a store. They later moved to Kremlin, where John managed the Farmers Union until 1953 and Dorothy was bookkeeper. They leased a farm south of Kremlin and worked it side by side, and John also worked as the postmaster in Kremlin until his retirement in 1982.

Dorothy was known by her grandchildren as "Grandma Go Go." She was a superb cook and was known across the Hi-Line for her exceptional homemade breads, cinnamon rolls and chocolate chip cookies.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John, who died in 1984; two sisters; one grandson; and one great-granddaughter.

Dorothy is survived by: a brother, Willis (Dorothy) Cady of Gildford; sisters, June Corbit of Walkerville, Loraine (Bob) Eyman of Clyde Park, and Carol (Cliff) Heggen of Kremlin; daughters, Carol (David) Farr of Centerville, Ohio, Trudy (Jake) Meyer of Havre, Harriet Cady-McCormick of Kremlin; Lue (Al) Waite of Havre; and a son, Neil (Lylas) McCormick of Kremlin; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; 55 nephews and 53 nieces.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Northern Montana Care Center for a blanket warmer, P.O. Box 1231, Havre, Mt 59501.
