HARLEM - Franklin A. "Chick" Healy, 62, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, at Fort Harrison Veterans Hospital of natural causes.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Harlem Cemetery with veterans burial honors. A memorial mass will be held at a later date.
Franklin was born Jan. 14, 1942, to Bud and Maymie (Contway) Healy on Jan. 14, 1942, at Fort Belknap.
He spent four years in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban blockade. He worked on ranches, at Virgil's Standard Station in Harlem, was a dispatcher for the Harlem Police Department, the Blaine County Sheriff's Office and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. He retired due to a medical condition.
He was a foster parent for 17 years.
He was preceded in death by both parents; brother, Tim Healy; and a foster son, Arnie Kittson.
Survivors are his wife, Teri Healy of Harlem; stepdaughter, Wendy Maratita and her family of Harlem; stepson, Jesse Plumage and his family of Washington; brothers, Marvin Healy of Billings, James Healy of North Dakota, Ron Healy of California, and John Contway of Alaska; sisters, Barbara Hansonl of Malta, Annette Fox of Washington, and Elaine Moomau of Washington; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Adams Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
