JAMES R. ANDERSON obituary

Former Havre resident James R. Anderson, 77, a retired Cascade County Road Department employee, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at Peace Hospice in Great Falls due to renal failure.

His memorial service will be at Hillcrest Lawn Chapel on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Jim was born in Great Falls on Nov. 24, 1927, the son of David and Dorothy (Moran) Anderson. He was raised and educated in Great Falls, graduating from Great Falls High School.

He married his wife of 56 years, Mary Louise Rickard, on Nov. 24, 1948, in Great Falls.

Jim worked the family farm in Teton County and then went to work for Valley Motor Supply in Havre. He moved back to Great Falls in 1966 to work for the Cascade County Road Department and retired in 1988.

He was a 50-year member of Cascade Lodge No. 34, 32nd degree Scottish Rite, and a member of the Algeria Shrine. Jim was also a charter member and past president of Good Sams and was a 35-year member of the Eagles. He was active in stock car racing in Great Falls for 16 years and was a state champion numerous times. He enjoyed RVing, going south for the winter and visiting relatives in Scotland.

His parents, David and Dorothy Anderson, and brothers, David R. and William R. Anderson, preceded him in death.

Survivors are his wife, Mary Louise Anderson of Great Falls; sons, Jack (Barbara) Anderson and Robert (Kathy) Anderson, both of Havre, and Dan (Teddie) Anderson of Great Falls; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
