Chris Heggen, Jr., 76, of Kremlin died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at a Great Falls hospital of natural causes.
Cremation has taken place. His memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Holland & Bonine Funeral Home with the Rev. Rowlie Hutton officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery. A fellowship will be held at the Eagles Club immediately after the graveside service. Chris was born April 22, 1928, south of Kremlin to Chris L. and Olive (Reum) Heggen Sr. He attended country school at Halfway Coulee and worked on the family farm and ranch in Kremlin. Chris went to work for the railroad during the winter of 1946 in Great Falls and then returned to the family farm. He also worked for General Mills in Gildford from 1981 to 1984.
Chris enjoyed farming, dancing and eating good food. His family was very important to him and he dearly loved his children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Vicky Heggen; sisters, Othilla Heggen Kincaid, Clara Heggen Johnson, Josephine Heggen Engleking and Florence Heggen Johns; and two brothers, Lloyd Heggen and Lawrence Heggen.
Chris is survived by his children, Tim (Debbie) Heggen of Helena, Dale (Julie) Heggen of Havre, Lynn (Bonnie) Heggen of Havre, Phyllis (Jim) Lyons of Valier, and Ellis (Nelsa) Heggen of Great Falls; a brother, Clifford (Carol) Heggen of Kremlin; a sister, Borghlin Heggen Thomas of Seattle, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials in Chris' honor may be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905 or to a memorial of one's choice. Services and arrangements are under the direction of Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
