John E. Deady, 76, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at the Northern Montana Care Center of natural causes.
A prayer vigil service will be 7 p.m. Monday at the Holland & Bonine Funeral Chapel and the funeral Mass will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Jude's Catholic Church.
Burial will follow with full military honors at the Highland Cemetery. All friends are invited to a fellowship luncheon at the Vets Club immediately following the services at the graveside.
John was born on June 5, 1928, in Baker to John H. and Mabel C. (Hankins) Deady. When John was 5 years old, the family moved to Gordon, Wis., where he was raised and educated. John graduated from Gordon High School in 1946. He attended Duluth University, where he studied agriculture and received a B.A. in that field of study.
In December 1950, John enlisted with the U.S. Air Force. After basic training, he was given the position of staff sergeant as a cook. He was stationed in Texas, California, Washington state and finally at the Havre Radar Base in 1953. He was honorably discharged on Dec. 28, 1958.
John worked for the Great Northern Railway briefly. He worked for several plumbing shops in Havre and was a journeyman plumber. He worked for the Havre Public Schools as a custodian and bus driver at the Lincoln-McKinley School. He retired in the 1990s after 20 years of service with the city of Havre as the plumbing inspector.
John met Carmella Filicetti in Havre. They were married May 22, 1954, in Havre.
John enjoyed cooking, gardening and doing handiwork for others in the Havre community. Most of all, John loved his four grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Carmella, in 2000.
Survivors include his sons, Tom Deady of Havre and Rick Deady of Helena; four grandchildren; sisters, Janet Trader of Burlington, Wis., and Jean Schaefer of Gordon, Wis.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
