WHITEFISH - Linda Rae (Kalepp) May, 62, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004, in Whitefish.
The family invites friends to an open house at Linda and Buck's home in Whitefish on Friday from 1 to 4 p.m.
Linda was born on July 25, 1942, in Anaconda to Herman and Dorothy Kalepp. She was raised in Butte, where she attended Butte High School and was actively involved in marching and twirling. She continued her education at Montana State University, where she participated in ROTC Angel Flight precision marching, was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority, and graduated with honors in education.
While at MSU, Linda met and married Buck May of Havre in 1961. Upon graduation, they moved to northern California, where they taught for 10 years and started a family. Family brought them back to Montana, where they continued teaching and opened their businesses in Havre. She was tremendously proud of her Boku Gift shop in Havre, and realized how much she enjoyed and succeeded in running her own business.
In 1983, the family moved to Whitefish to start a new life. Linda and Buck purchased Yeti's Den, formerly the Pastime, and renamed it the Bulldog Saloon. For the past 21 years, she and Buck worked together to create a local gathering place with a home team, hometown atmosphere.
Linda enjoyed country life, being outdoors, gardening and walking. She loved trees, plants, birds and Montana wildlife, and had a soft spot for dogs, especially bulldogs. She loved her four grandsons and they knew they could always count on Grandma Linda's supply of lollipops.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Buck; brother, Craig Kalepp of Big Bear, Calif.; children, Eric (Amy) May of Whitefish and Nikki May (Casey) Eagleburger of Mesa, Arizona; and grandsons, Jake and Luke May, and Buck and Mack Eagleburger.
Memorials may be made to Project Whitefish Kids, P.O. Box 2010, Whitefish, MT 59937.
