EDITH ROSGAARD obituary

Edith C. Rosgaard, 87, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004, at Northern Montana Hospital of natural causes.

A funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church with the Rev. Brad Ulgenes officiating. Interment will take place at Highland Cemetery. At the completion of the service, a luncheon will be held at the church. Family and friends may call at Holland & Bonine Funeral Home Sunday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Edith was born to Joseph and Bertha (Odegaard) Marken at the family farm at Rural Hudson, S.D., on May 8, 1917. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church of Rural Hudson, S.D.

She attended grade school at the Pleasant Valley Elementary School near the family farm and graduated from Fairview, S.D., High School in

1935. She also attended Simpson College at Indianola, Iowa, and taught school for a number of years in Iowa at Carlisle, Fernald and Odebolt. She also taught school at Wilbaux and Galata.

On Sept. 5, 1945, she was married to Alfred I. Rosgaard at Canton Lutheran Church in Canton, S.D.

Following World War II, she and her husband moved to Decorah, Iowa, where he attended Luther College. The couple later moved to St. Paul, Minn., where Al attended Luther Theological Seminary. The couple lived at Sherwood and Rural Williston in North Dakota and Wilbaux, Galata and Rural Richland in Montana. During these years, she earned her B.S. in education from Northern Montana College, graduating in 1972.

After Alfred retired from active ministry in 1982. They moved to Townsend and relocated to Havre in 1999.

Survivors include her husband, Alfred Rosgaard of Havre; daughter, Dorothy (Jim) Haney of Panama City Fla.; sons, Al (Jan) Jr. of Havre and David of Arlington, Wash.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Ellen Gedstead of Turlock, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and one brother.
