MARGARET PENNY obituary

LARAMIE, Wyo. - Margaret Penny, 88, of Laramie, Wyo., died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, on her father's birthday at Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie.

A funeral Mass was scheduled for 10:30 a.m. today with the Rev. James Schumacher and the Rev. Carl J. Gallinger as celebrants.

Margaret was born on Jan. 16, 1916, in Havre to Charles and Mary Kubitza Goligoski. Margaret received her education in Havre. She attended St. Jude's Catholic school for 8 years and graduated from Havre High School in 1934. She went to Northern Montana College and graduated from there in 1936.

Margaret worked as a department manager for the J. C. Penney Co., until she married her husband, William Howard Penny, on April 10, 1939. They moved to Laramie, where her husband was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad. Shortly after Pearl Harbor, her husband enlisted in the Navy, and she returned to Havre and her old job at J. C. Penney. After the war, they returned to Laramie. For years, she was the food supervisor at Crane Hill Cafeteria. She retired in 1975.

After her retirement, the Penny's enjoyed traveling. They wintered in Texas for years. During her life, Margaret enjoyed fishing, hunting and going to the mountains. She loved her yard, especially her garden and the beautiful flowers she grew. She was an avid University of Wyoming Cowboy fan.

Margaret lived for her family. In the last few years, as her health failed, she was mostly homebound but loved visiting with the Meals on Wheels volunteers, her home health aides, and her friends. Up until her recent illness, she continued to write letters and work word puzzles daily.

Margaret was a member of St. Laurence O'Toole Catholic Church, St. Rita's Group, AARP, Heritage Club, VFW Auxiliary, UP Old Timers Club, and the Ladies of the Moose.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Howard Penny; infant son, William Joseph Penny; parents; and two brothers.

Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Penny (Doug) Campbell; grandson, Cody William Campbell; niece, Lynn Anderson and her family of Edmonds Wash .; nephew, Charles Goligoski and his family of Kalispell.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Eppson Center for Seniors or Hospice of Laramie.
