SPOKANE, Wash. - Theresa R. "Babe" Houim, 72, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, after a month-long illness.
A graveside service was held on Oct. 19 at Holy Cross Cemetery at Spokane, followed by a reception at the Moose Lodge.
Houim was born on Dec. 21, 1931, to Anton and Julianna Schwan in Havre, the youngest of 16 children. She graduated from Havre High School in 1950.
She married Luverene L. Houim on Oct. 17, 1953, at Havre. They lived in Havre until moving to Spokane in 1966.
She was a member of the Women's Moose Lodge.
Her favorite pastime was watching the Seattle Seahawks or the Washington State University Cougars with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, six sisters, six brothers and granddaughter.
Survivors include her husband, Luverene L. Houim of Spokane; children, Linda (Gene) Tarble of Chewelah, Wash., Josephine (Mel) Bouten of Spokane, Dean Houim of Spokane, Theresa (Gary) Schwartz of Galt, Calif., five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sisters, Pauline Laeupple of Havre and Agatha Sherman of Ronan; Frank Schwan of Lothair and Paul Schwan of Havre; dear friend, Virginia Kivitt; and many family members, friends and neighbors.
