JAMES FLYNN obituary

James Robert Flynn, 80, died Saturday, Oct., 30, 2004, at his residence of natural causes.

His memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Van Orsdel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Vaundalee Delong officiating. Burial will follow at the

Highland Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will be held at the church immediately after the services at the graveside.

Jim was born on May 13, 1924, in Goldstone to John A. and Ruth Hazel (Baker) Flynn. He was raised in Gildford and graduated from Gildford High School in 1942. He went to work for the state Highway Department for a few years and then operated the family business, Jacks Bar, in Gildford.

Jim married Harriett Duncan on Sept. 10, 1949, in Havre. He started Flynn Insurance Co. in September of 1961. Jim and Harriett operated the company until he sold it to Koefod Insurance Agency in August of 1987. Jim worked for Koefod Agency from 1987 until he retired in September of 2004. His wife, Harriett, died in 1996. He moved into the Eagles Manor in 1997.

Jim was involved in the Kiwanis, which he served as president from 1971 to 1972. He was also a member of the Eagles, Elks and Van Orsdel United Methodist Church.

Jim and Harriett loved to travel and visit their children. Jim was a very optimistic and friendly person who was known and liked by many. He enjoyed taking pictures and sharing them with his family and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Harriett in 1996; and brothers, Roger, Raymond and Kenneth Flynn.

Survivors include his daughter, Holly Flynn Winter of Auburn, Wash.; son, Mike Flynn of Sea Tack, Wash.; sister, Jean Watson of Havre; many nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews; and all of his many friends.

Memorials in Jim's honor may be made to Van Orsdel United Methodist Church, 410 Fifth Ave., Havre, MT 59501 or to Havre Kiwanis, c/o Chris Maristuen, 835 14th St., Havre, MT 59501.
