WALTER LAMEY obituary

Walter L. Lamey, 84, of Glendive, formerly of Havre and Lakeside, died on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004, at the Eastern Montana Veterans Home in Glendive.

A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Havre with the Rev. Jim O'Neil officiating. Rite of Committal with mili-

tary honors will be in the Highland Cemetery in Havre.

Walter was born on July 18, 1920, in Havre to John E. and Mary (Kennedy) Lamey. He was raised and educated in Havre and graduated from Havre High School with the class of 1939. He worked for Great Northern Railway for a couple of years before entering the U.S. Army in 1942. Walter served during World War II in the 8th Air Force.

Following his discharge from the military, he was united in marriage to Helen Seeley on Dec. 11, 1945, in Seattle, Wash. Walter and his wife returned to Havre, where he again worked for Great Northern and Burlington Northern railways, until he retired in 1979 after 43 years of service. In 1989, Walter and his wife moved to Lakeside, where they resided until 2000, when they moved to Billings because of medical reasons. During this time, Walter and his wife spent 21 winters in Mesa, Ariz. Walter had been a resident of the Eastern Montana Veterans Home in Glendive for the past two years.

Walter was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Havre Eagles Club.

Walter enjoyed woodworking, painting and was an accomplished handyman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary; siblings, James, Kathleen, John, Joseph, Donald and David Lamey, Margaret Pike and Anne Thompson; and great-granddaughter, Shelby Molyneaux.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Lamey of Glasgow; children, Patrick (Paula) Lamey of Carlsbad, Calif., Janice (Larry) Mires of Glasgow, Gail (John) Molyneaux of Alliance, Neb., and Mary (Steve) Bolender of Billings; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
