ALMARINE MCDONALD obituary

HARLEM - Almarine H. McDonald, 96, died Monday, Oct. 11, 2004, at Northern Montana Hospital in Havre due to natural causes.

A graveside services will be in Sweetwater, Texas, on Friday at 2 p.m. in the Sweetwater Cemetery.

Almarine was born on May 10, 1908, in Nolan County,

Texas, to John Byron and Edna (Reed) McBurnett. She graduated from the 10th grade from Lake Trammel School in Nolan County and attended West Texas State Teacher's College in Canyon, Texas.

She taught school for one year before marrying John McDonald in Sweetwater. They lived in Sweetwater until 1954. She was an active member of the Lamar Street Baptist Church. They moved to Port Arthur, Texas, until returning to Sweetwater in the early 1970s. They were both members of the First Baptist Church and taught Sunday school. They especially loved singing in the choir.

After her husband's death in 1984, she continued to reside in Sweetwater until she was 91. She drove her car to church every Sunday. Aside from her church activities, she was cook for the W.A.F.'s during World War II at Avenger Field in Sweetwater.

In 1999, Almarine moved to Montana to live with her daughter and son-in-law Mary John (Bill) Taylor.

Survivors include her daughters, Mary John (Bill) Taylor of Harlem and Doris Darnell of Austin, Texas; four grandchildren, Scott (Laura) Taylor of Marysville, Calif., Audrey (Charles) Humphreys of Harlem, and Amy (Matthew) Kirkham and Jamie Drew, both of Austin, Texas; and nine great-grandchildren.
