WALLACE STIRLING obituary

TURNER - Wallace "Wally" Stirling, 74, of Turner died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, at the Washington Veterans Home in Retsil, Wash.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the American Lutheran Church in Turner with burial with military honors following at Turner Cemetery.

Wally was born on June 7, 1930, to Tom and Georgia (Teeple) Stirling in Blaine County. He grew to manhood on the farm and ranch that was his home. He

graduated from Turner High School,

attended Northern Montana College, went into the Air National Guard and then returned to the farm.

Wally was married twice, to Miki and to Charlotte.

He moved to Eugene, Ore., and was involved in many business ventures that included a motel in Ashland, the Jolly Roger Drive-In, the Dairy Delight Ice Cream franchises and a real estate brokerage firm. In Washington state, he was involved in the Stirling Land Company.

Wally was a member of the Elks and Jaycees.

Wally enjoyed classic cars, car races and airplane races. He put his inventive talents to work designing a loader. He traveled throughout the world and spent months in Northern Ireland and around Scotland compiling a Stirling family tree. He also traveled extensively throughout the United States.

Wally was preceded in death by his brother, Frank.

Survivors include his daughter, Heidi; brothers, Tom, Bill and Roger; sisters, JoAnn and Ida Jane; sisters-in-law, Shirley and Ann Stirling; brother-in-law, Conrad; and many close friends.
