Ruth R. Possenti, 95, died at her home of natural causes on Friday, Oct. 1, 2004.
In accord with Ruth's wishes, there will be no service.
Ruth was born on Sept. 6, 1909, in Minneapolis, Minn. Abandoned as an infant, she was adopted by Emma and William Rathbone of Minneapolis.
When Ruth was 13, she and her mother moved to Havre. Her brother Ed Rathbone worked on the railroad here.
Ruth married Sam Possenti, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Brooke Possenti, of Havre, and granddaughter, Laurie, who lives in Wyoming.
Ruth was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Rainbow Girls and Eastern Star, was a Brownie Troop leader, manager of Singer Sewing Machine Co., manager of Montgomery Ward order office, employee of Citizens Bank and active with the Democratic Party. She retired after many years as Hill County auditor. She received her GED at the age of 85, the oldest person in the state to do so at that time.
Ruth has requested no flowers be sent to the house, but rather a donation be made to one's chosen charity.
