SARA BIG KNIFE obituary

ROCKY BOY - Sara Rachelle Big Knife, 19, died Friday, Sept. 24, 2004, from injuries she sustained in a vehicle accident on Duck Creek Road.

A wake service began Saturday afternoon at Joe Big Knife's ranch. Sara was moved to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church at Rocky Boy on Sunday, with the

wake service continuing there. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church with Tony Castillo officiating. Burial will follow at the Joe Big Knife Ranch.

Sara was born to Shelley (Big Knife) Viall and Anthony R. Charles on Jan. 1, 1985. Her grandparents Joe and Roberta Big Knife adopted her. Sara attended school in Box Elder most of her life with a short stint in Havre at the middle school. She graduated from Rocky Boy High School in 2003. She joined the military in July of 2003 and was honorably discharged in May of 2004.

While in the military, she met her mate Max Gobaldon and brought him home to Rocky Boy for the summer of 2004. For the short time that they were together, they loved each other deeply and passionately. Sara was attending Montana State University-Northern at the time of her death. She was studying pharmacology.

Sara enjoyed listening to music, making her own CDs, shopping, e-mail and chatting online. She played basketball while she was in school. She loved to dance and stay physically fit. She liked scary movies. If the movie didn't do the job of scaring her, she'd roll her eyes and say "Cripe." She loved to spend time with her nieces and nephews, and loved her cat doja and her poo. She dearly loved Max, her Gramma, mother and all of the family.

Sara was preceded in death by an unborn child; her biological father, Anthony Charles; great-grandparents, Dora and Ervin Flying; and her paternal grandfather.

Survivors include her parents, Joe and Roberta Big Knife; mother, Shelley (Jay) Viall; sisters, Charlene (Melvin Writing Bird) Big Knife, Charlotte (Dean Henderson) Big Knife, Jennifer Big Knife, LaNaya Big Knife, Kyra Big Knife and Yolanda Ereaux; brothers, Taylor (Roberta Nicholson) Big Knife, Shawn (Tami) Big Knife, Ace (Elonda Long Fox) Big Knife, JC Big Knife, Jacob Ereaux and Dustin Flying, all of Rocky Boy; grandmother, Martha Charles of Kayenta, Ariz .; numerous nieces and nephews; uncles, Sam, James, Earl, Ray and Timothy Charles, all of Arizona; aunts, Elaine Charles of Arizona and Elsie (Charles) Snell of Dallas, Texas; and close friends, Candace Morsette, Brandi Lawrence, Nicole Mitchell, Art Whitford Jr., Charlie Swan, Carlos Swan, Jackie Blackbird, Jennifer St. Marks, Chassidy Parisian and Jessica Raining Bird.
