HAZEL GENEREUX obituary

BIG SANDY - Hazel M. Genereux, 85, a resident of Big Sandy died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, at her residence of natural causes.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Big Sandy United Methodist Church with the Rev. Marvin Eldridge and the Rev. Tyler officiating.

Interment of the ashes will be at the Big Sandy Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the United Methodist Church.

Hazel was born on Nov. 20, 1918, in Loma to Benjamin O. and Nettie (Gumsrud) Callison. She attended school at Fort Benton and graduated from Fort Benton High School. Hazel worked at the shipyards in Long Beach, Calif., during World War II.

In February of 1947, Hazel married Sophus Peterson in Arizona. The couple then moved to Big Sandy.

Hazel was a member of Big Sandy United Methodist Church and VFW Auxiliary, and was active in Rebekah's since 1947. Hazel enjoyed making crafts and participating in craft shows.

In 1983, Hazel retired from the Big Sandy Schools as a cook. Sophus died in 1957.

On Nov. 18, 1960 Hazel married Harold (Buck) Genereux in Big Sandy. The couple lived in Big Sandy until Buck died in 1998.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; two brothers; two sisters; and one grandson.

Survivors include her daughters, Donna Coman of Clancy and Nicole Peterson of Elma, Wash.; sons, Stephen Peterson of Menan, Idaho, and Daniel Genereux of Big Sandy; sisters, Vi Tyler of Big Sandy, Betty Koessler of Great Falls Lucille Eklund of California, Jewell Smolar of Lewiston, Idaho, and Patsy Samsell of Washington; brothers, Tom Callison of Carter and Ben Callison of Great Falls; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
