WILBERT HAAS obituary

Wilbert Jacob "John" Haas, 77, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004, at his residence in Havre of natural causes.

His funeral was scheduled for 11 a.m. today at St. Jude's Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert Grosch officiating. Burial was to follow at the Highland

Cemetery. In celebration of John's life, a luncheon was to follow at the VFW Club.

John was born in Cleveland, N.D., on April 30, 1927. John moved to Havre in 1951 and was a railroad conductor for 38 years.

John served in the armed forces as a sergeant during World War II. He was a member of the Elks Club, American Legion, and was a past commander and honor guard for the VFW Club.

John and his wife, Rita, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with many family and friends in March 2004.

John enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and spending time with his family and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and five brothers.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Rita; sons, Patrick ( Karen) Haas of Tacoma, Wash., Michael (Ginger) Haas of Seattle, Wash., and Thomas (Stacie) Haas of Havre; sister, Edith Tarbell of Jamestown, N.D.; and three grandchildren.

Memorials in John's honor may be made to Bear Paw Hospice, c/o Northern Montana Hospital, 30 W. 13th St., Havre, MT 59501.

Arrangements are under the direction of Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
