DOROTHY JONES obituary

TURNER - Dorothy E. Jones, 85, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004, at the family home in Turner with family members at her bedside.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Turner Christian Church. Cremation and burial has taken place at the Turner Cemetery.

Dorothy

was born on Aug. 9, 1919, in Great Falls to Frank and Nora (Warren) Phillips. She attended elementary school in Great Falls, until her parents moved to her uncle's ranch in the Highwood Mountains. She then attended school in Geraldine. Later the family moved to the Big Flat area. Dorothy graduated from Turner High School in 1938. After graduation, she worked at Zim's Soda Fountain and Variety store and also at the Turner post office.

In 1941 she moved to Dallas, Texas, to live with her sister. While there she attended Business College and earned a degree in secretarial work. She worked for Rath's Meat Company in Dallas. She later moved to Washington, D.C., and worked for in the Office of War Production. Dorothy moved back to Turner to be with her parents and taught school in both the Hogeland and Turner school systems.

Dorothy married Wellen A. Jones on March 17, 1945, in Havre. The love of her life has been her family. She was more than a mother, grandmother - she was their friend as they were hers. Her family showed a love of her that she truly treasured, she believed it to be a blessing that God provided.

Survivors include her husband, Wellen of Turner; sons, Wellen (Edie) Jones Jr. of Turner, Warren (Cherie) Jones of Thayne, Wyo., and Terry (Tammy) Jones of Turner; daughter, Phyllis (Jack) Laden of Dillon; and 13 grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Gift of Life Foundation or the Turner Christian Church.

Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
