Ralph Henry Friede, 75, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at his home of natural causes.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Messiah Lutheran Church with the Rev. Rodney Mruk officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland
Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will be held immediately after the services at the graveside at the Vets Club.
Ralph was born on June 4, 1929, in Harlem to Walter and Alvina Friede. He attended school in Harlem and Chinook. Ralph served in the Marine Corps from 1945-1954, serving in the Pacific Theater and in the Korean War.
Ralph married Beverly Michalson on Sept. 30, 1951, in Chinook. He worked at Buttreys Department Store and joined the Havre Police Department in 1967. Ralph retired from the police department as a sergeant in 1980.
Ralph enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, cards, good jokes, and especially spending time with his family and friends. Ralph was a member of the Eagles Club and the V.F.W.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Alvina; brother, Jack; sisters, Lola and Virginia Mae Friede.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Beverly Friede of Havre; children, Marcia (Les) Clark of Helena, Virginia (John) Zumbrun of Havre, Michael (Sandra) Friede of Havre, Thomas (Debi) Friede of Havre, Patrick Friede of Havre and Carol (Bill) Loomis of Helena; brothers, Ernest (Marie) Friede of Chinook and James (Nancy) Friede of Missoula; sisters, Beverly Cowan of Havre and Sandy (Joe) Zito of Missoula; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Memorials in Ralph's honor may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, P.O. Box 497, Havre, MT 59501; Havre Police Protective Association, 520 Fourth St., Havre, MT 59501, or to a donor's choice.
Services and arrangements are under the direction of Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
