ALBERT LOENDORF obituary

GLENDIVE - Albert D. Loendorf, 90, of Glendive, formerly of Vida, died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at the Northeastern Montana Veteran's Home in Glendive.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the

Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wolf Point. A graveside service will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery with full military honors.

Albert was born on Aug. 4, 1914, at a farm near Vida to Wilbert and Christina (Neustal) Loendorf. He worked at various farms in the Vida area before going into the Army in November of 1941. He served the U.S. Army in the automotive area in Italy, France and Germany. Albert was honorably discharged in 1945 and returned home to farm in Vida.

On Oct. 30, 1950, he and Angela Dougherty were married in Wolf Point. Together they farmed in the Vida area, until moving to Wolf Point in 1995 and then to Great Falls in 2001. In November of 2003, Albert moved into the Northeastern Montana Veterans Home in Glendive.

Albert loved to play baseball in his early years in the Vida and Richey areas with his brothers and friends. He enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing. Albert was especially proud that he was able to teach his granddaughters to fish. He had a wonderful sense of humor that was apparent in everything he did. He was an original cow man and loved to be on the farm.

Albert was active in communities where he lived. He was secretary for 30 years of the Equity Co-Op Association, a lifetime member and charter member of the American Legion Elks Club in Wolf Point and a membr of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a lifetime member of the Wolf Point Historical Society. Albert served on the Vida School Board for several years, and was proud that he would be there on the board when they built the new school in 1956.

Survivors include his wife of almost 54 years, Angela, of Glendive; sons, Alan Loendorf of Miles City and Arthur (Sandra) of Billings; three grandchildren; brother, Charles (Cecil) of Wolf Point; and numerous nieces and nephews.
