Solid performances abound at Great Northern Stampede

Josh Reynolds' 86-point ride on a horse named Wild Card high lighted Sunday action of the Great Northern Stampede Rodeo at the Hill County Fairgrounds. Reynolds, who hails from Corvallis, captured the saddle bronc portion of the two day event with the solid ride. Malta's Guy Simanton was second with a ride of 80.

In the bareback competition, Havre's Troy Solomon and Lincoln's Scott Owens shared top honors with matching 76-point rides.

There were several other ties for top honors. In the bull riding, Tyler Kelly of Stanford and Brett Crump of Lone Pine split the first-place prize money with 69-point rides.

Jaren Whitman of Belgrade and Jim Garrison of Glen also shared the steer wrestling's top place as both cowboys came up with a time of 4.1 seconds.

In team roping, the team of Brant Davis (Sand Coulee) and Matt Robertson (Augusta) was the top finisher with a time of six seconds flat. Hank Hollenbeck won the tie-down roping with a time of 8.8 seconds.

In the always competitive barrel racing, Cut Bank's Charlotte Barry recorded the fastest time of 17.01 with Mercedes Knudson of Vaughn a close second with a 17.26.
