Kathryn Delia "Kay" Kickbusch, 80, of Havre died at a Seattle hospital on Thursday, July 29, 2004.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 14 at Fifth Avenue Christian Church. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Hill

Kay was born on Aug. 15, 1923, to Catherine Caroline (Larson) and Luke Carey in Denver. She received her education in California and worked during World War II assembling bombs for the war effort in San Francisco.

Kay married Bill Kickbusch on April 8, 1947, in Chinook after he returned from active duty in the Army.

As a young woman, Kay was active in the Lutheran church and taught Sunday school and Bible class. She participated in various social circles. Kay was a member of the Officers' Wives' Club at the U.S. Air Force Radar Base north of Havre for 20 years, while her husband was employed as a civil engineer at the base.

Kay was a master story teller. She enjoyed ceramics, gardening, sewing and various types of decorating. She and her daughter built a large doll collection and were featured in a Havre Daily News article a few years ago. She loved to bake and cook.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mayme Turner; and brother, Bob Carey.

Survivors include her husband, Willard "Bill" Kickbusch; daughters, Kitten McLain, Colleen Cross and Shannon Lynnes; and grandchildren, Briana McLain and Shawn McLain, who is serving in the Army in Iraq.
