Molly Jo Phares, 68, of Havre died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at a Havre care center of natural causes.
At her request cremation will take place. A gathering of family and friends will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Mary Ann Cooper's residence in Havre.
Molly Jo
was born on July 16, 1936, in Nescopeck, P., to David and Hester (Bickert) Schaffer. She attended grade school in Pennsylvania. In 1950 her family moved to Havre, and she graduated from Havre High School in 1953.
She married John Ranes and the couple made their home in Havre and raised five children. Molly Jo and John later divorced.
On July 5, 1979 in Reno, Nev., she married Rodney Phares. The couple lived in Havre, North Dakota, Colorado and Vancouver, Wash. They eventually returned to Havre to be near family.
Molly Jo was a good cook and a baker. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, David; and grandson, A.J. Ranes.
Survivors include her husband, Rodney Phares of Havre; daughter, Kim Otto of Havre; sons, Tim Ranes of Havre, Alan Ranes of Great Falls, Gary Ranes of Havre and Richard Ranes of Great Falls; stepdaughters Mona of Portland, Ore., Stephanie of Arizona, Deborah of California, Cindy of Washington state, and Melanie of California; brother, Thomas (Ruth Ann) Schaffer of Pennsylvania; sister, Faye Buckingham of Pennsylvania; aunt, Loie Bickert of Pennsylvania; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials in Molly's honor may be made to the Northern Montana Dialysis Unit, Northern Montana Hospital, P.O. Box 1231, Havre, MT 59501.
Arrangements are under the direction of Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
