CLANCY - Genevieve Lorraine Tanberg, 92, former Blaine County treasurer, of Clancy died of natural causes Friday, July 16, 2004, at a Helena hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the American Lutheran Church in Chinook with burial in the Kuper Memorial Cemetery.
Genevieve was born on April 11, 1912, at Carlos, Minn., to Dennis William and Myrtle (Sweet) Daniel. She was baptized on May 7, 1912, at Belle River, Minn., and confirmed at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Havre.
She attended schools at St. Jude's, St. Vincent's Academy in Helena, Garden Springs in Spokane, Wash., Northern Montana College and Western Montana College.
She married Henry Clifford Tanberg of Chinook on May 27, 1933, at Lethbridge, Alberta. They lived most of their life in Chinook, but moved to Great Falls in 1981 and Havre in 1985. She moved to Helena in 1997.
Genevieve taught school for one year in Blaine County and moved to Bremerton, Wash., in 1942 to work in the Puget Sound Navy Yard. She returned to Chinook after World War II and worked in the Blaine County Treasurer's Office. She later became Blaine County treasurer and retired in 1975.
Genevieve was past matron of O.E.S. of Chinook, a member of Chinook's American Lutheran Church and Messiah Lutheran Church in Havre.
She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Jeannine Skones; granddaughter, Lana; parents; and brothers, Ambrose, Laddie and Larry.
Survivors include her son, Carl of Helena; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a niece.
Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook is in charge of arrangements.
