VIEANNA OSBORNE obituary

SHELBY - Vieanna May Osborne, 80, a former motel owner from Shelby, died Sunday, July 11, 2004, at a Havre care center.

Her funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Shelby with burial to follow in Valley View Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Whitted Funeral Chapel in Shelby.

Vieanna was born on Nov. 18, 1923, to Henry C. and Inez (Kinyon) Frederickson on the family homestead northeast of Lothair, where she was raised and attended country school.

She married Alvin Osborne on April 8, 1941, in Chester. After living in the Whitefish area for a short time, they moved back and farmed north of Galata. In 1960, they moved to Shelby, where Vieanna ran the Star Motel. In 1977, she went to work as a housekeeper at the Williams Court in Shelby until 1990. Alvin passed away in 1993. In 2002, she moved in the Marias Care Center in Shelby and then to the Northern Montana Care Center in Havre in 2003.

Vieanna loved music and playing piano, enjoyed gardening and was known as an excellent cook. But most of all, she loved and cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her sons, Henry (Sarah) Osborne of Casper, Wyo., and Lester (Ellen) Osborne of Havre; daughter, Shirley (Jim) Hendrick of Lakeside; sister-in-law, Betty Frederickson of Chester; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin; and brother, Lawrence Frederickson.

Memorials are suggested to St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Northern Montana Care Center or the Marias Care Center.
