Melvin Sather, died Wednesday, July 7, 2004, in Sandy, Utah, of congestive heart failure.
Melvin was cremated and his ashes will be interred in the Highland Cemetery, Havre. A graveside service will be held July 23 at 11 a.m.
Melvin was born on
March 26,
1916, in Moorehead, Minn. to Ove and Oline Borde Sather.
Mel married Iris Weimer in Havre on Jan. 28, 1939. Mel married Ida Skordal in Chattanooga, Tenn., on September 29,1993.
Mel worked for Eddy's Bakery for more than 30 years in Bismarck N.D., Havre, Great Falls, Superior, Wis., and Pocatello, Idaho. After retiring from Eddy's, he was an insurance agent for New York Life.
Mel had an outgoing, quick-witted personality. He loved good humor and was always quick to smile and joke. He enjoyed golf, especially with his boys, food and watching Wheel Of Fortune.
Survivors include his wife Ida Sather of Port Angeles, Wash.; sons, Melvin Richard of Inman, S.C.; Edward (Georgia) of Bismarck, N.D.; James (JoAnne) of Spring, Texas; daughter, DeAnn (Paul) Kleinman of Midvale, Utah; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Helen (Emil) Klies; and brothers, Orville (LaVon) Sather and James (Aileen) Sather.
Melvin was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Iris; daughter, Jeanne; grandson, Melvin Richard, Jr; parents; and brother, Arnold.
Holland and Bonine Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
