ROY NELSON obituary

SAMMAMISH, Wash. - Roy Leslie Nelson, 61, a former Havre resident, died July 2, 2004, at a Bellevue, Wash., hospital of a cerebral embolism to the brain, causing a severe stroke.

A viewing will be Friday at the Green Funeral Home in Bellevue. Cremation will take place. A memorial service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Green Funeral Home.

Roy was born to Carl F. and Lillian M. Nelson on Sept. 23, 1942, in Havre. He attended elementary through high school in Havre. He entered Northern Montana College, but discontinued due to an automobile accident and a spinal injury. He later worked for Eddy's Bakery as a baker and also worked for Supersave Grocery and also at a local automotive fuel station.

In the early 1960s, Roy enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served aboard a vessel involved in off-shore missile launching during the Vietnam War. He received his discharge from the Navy at the end of his sixth year of duty. He and his wife, Sharon Lee Nelson, moved to Bellevue, where he worked in the sale and service of hematology machines for hospitals and clinics of the Northwest, including Alaska. The couple divorced.

Roy met Linda Landis, a laboratory research technician, during his travels. They married in July 1994. They traveled to many different countries as well as the states.

Roy was preceded in death by both paternal and maternal grandparents, mother and father and a sister.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Nelson; sons, Scott Alan (Kimberly) Nelson and Rob Ryan Nelson; two granddaughters; siblings, Anna Mae (Ray) Maxwell and Donna Lee Williams, of Havre; Carol (Bob) Armer of Stillwell, Kan., and Robert W. (Bill) Nelson of Everett, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
