Rose A. Goar, 81, died Thursday, June 10, 2004, at her home of lung cancer.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Holland and Bonine Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Rowlie Hutton officiating. Burial will
follow at the Highland Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will be held at the Eagles immediately following the services at the graveside.
Rose was born on April 1, 1923, in Great Falls to William and Cora (Weyh) Lantry. She was raised north of Havre and attended schools in Havre. She graduated from Havre High School in 1942. She then went to work for Buttrey Foods. She married Victor Fields and had four children. The couple divorced.
She married Calvin Goar in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. The couple lived in Havre and raised the children.
Rose enjoyed macram, gardening, cooking, and dancing. She was a very active member of the Hill County Democratic Party, serving as a precinct committee person and vice chairman of the Hill County Democratic Party. She was also a member of the Eagles Auxiliary and the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She served as a Cub Scout leader in her earlier years.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sons and four brothers.
Survivors include her son, Vic Fields of Omaha, Neb .; daughters, Sandra Fields of Reno, Nev., and Gwen Goar of Havre; sisters, Donna Bloyed of Las Vegas, Nev .; and Patricia Knutson of Kalispell; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Memorials in Rose's honor may be made to the Gift of Life Housing, P.O. Box 7008, Great Falls, MT 59406, Bear Paw Hospice, 30 W. 13th St. Havre, MT 59501, or to the North Central Senior Citizens Center, 2 W. Second St., Havre, MT 59501.
