BEMIDJI - Julia Amundson, 94, of Bemidji, died Thursday, June 3, 2004, at a Bemidji, Minn. hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Community Room at Red Pine Estates, 2590 Ridgeway Ave. NW, Bemidji, followed by a luncheon. The Rev.
Arland Fiske will officiate.
Julia Amanda Hanson was born on Feb. 2, 1910, in Shevlin, Minn., to Nicholas and Johanna(Vigorson) Hanson. She grew up in Shevlin. She attended school there and also in Bagley, Minn. After she finished with school she worked in Nisswa, Minn.
On March 13, 1937, Julia married Olaf Amundson in Bagley. They made their home in Shevlin and raised five daughters. In 1957, the family moved to Bemidji. She worked at Itasca State Park and then at Bemidji State University. In 1972, she retired from BSU after 15 years of work. Julia enjoyed making quilts for raffles and family members. She was a volunteer at the Beltrami Nursing Home for 25 years, a member of the Homemakers Club and Eagles Ladies Auxiliary. She was an excellent cook and baker.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 12 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her daughters, Patricia Bitz, Havre, Peggy (Larry) Bannor, Duluth, Minn., Sandee (Leon) Eliason, Mesa, Ariz., Judy (Nick) Burns, Bemidji, Paulette (Oakley) Williams, Bemidji; 16 grandchildren; numerous great- and great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
