Dorothy Theresa "Dottie" Baker, 74, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at a Big Sandy medical center.
A liturgy of the Resurrection at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church will be in Butte on Tuesday at 10 a.m., officiated by the Rev. Edward Courtney. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. at the church. The Rev. Peter Guthneck will offer a memorial Mass at the St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Big Sandy on Wednesday at 11 a.m., with burial to follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery at her parents' gravesite.
Dorothy was born in Butte to Mike and Ann Flanick Baker on Oct. 22, 1929. She was the youngest of three daughters.
Dorothy resided in Butte with her parents until their deaths and then with her aunt, Mary S. Flanick, until her death in 1985. She relocated to the Big Sandy Medical Center in 1986 where she felt at home. She attended the Big Sandy Activity Center and looked forward to spending time at the center. She was a devout member of the St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. She was musically inclined and enjoyed listening to music. She was very outgoing and had a smile and kind word for everyone. She had an extended family and was dearly loved by them. She will be greatly missed. Her family truly appreciates the care Dorothy received from everyone in the Big Sandy community.
Dorothy was preceded in death by by her parents; sisters, Eleanor Baker and Florence Baker Boumans; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Survivors include her aunts, Rose Frankovich of Butte, who was also her legal guardian and whom Dorothy called her second mother, Sister Virginia Flanick of Leavenworth, Kan., and Lola Flanick of Butte; brother-in-law, Joe Boumans and family of Valier; and many cousins.
Arrangements are by Benton Funeral Home in Fort Benton.
