CAROL DIACON obituary

LOMA - Carol L. Diacon, 68, of Loma died Monday, May 10, 2004, at her daughter's home in Great Falls of natural causes.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Benton Funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral service. The funeral service will be held at 11

a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Fort Benton with the Rev. Randy Ludeman officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery at Fort Benton.

Carol was born on Feb. 22, 1936, at Fort Benton to Howard and Pearl (Rust) Ludeman. She grew up on the farm north of Geraldine. She graduated from Geraldine High School in 1954. She worked at Beatrice Foods in Great Falls after graduation.

Carol married Floyd Murrill and they had two children. They later divorced. Carol worked at the Combo Theater in Fort Benton for a time with her brother Jerry.

She married Edward Keeler and they had a daughter. They later divorced. She worked for the Fort Benton School District form 1968 to 1983 as a cook and custodian.

Carol married Lawrence W. Diacon on March 12, 1983, and moved to a farm near Loma. She enjoyed the peace that the farm had to offer and took joy in befriending and watching the wildlife around the farm.

Carol had a love for collecting antiques and enjoyed garage sales, flea markets and auctions. She loved to get an antique at a bargain. Carol also enjoyed playing pinochle and going with the family to its cabin at Swan Lake. She enjoyed her grandchildren and was active in their lives. She took her video camera with her so she could stand back and capture everything in pictures. She took care of her mother and enjoyed the special time with her until her mother died. The most important things to Carol were her mom, children, grandchildren and husband. She was a caregiver to a number of senior citizens for several years.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Lawrence "Larry" Diacon of Loma; daughters, Karina (Brian) Watson of Great Falls and Kandice Ehler of Florence, S.C.; son, Rocky (Bonnie) Murrill of Wasilla, Alaska; stepsons, David (LeAnna) Diacon of Three Forks and John (LeVita) Diacon of Oklahoma; stepdaughter, Lorrie Diacon of Kansas; brothers, Jerry (Barb) Ludeman of Geraldine and Randy (Sandy) Ludeman of Lewistown; sister, Darcy Finley of Billings; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Benton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
