Mildred A. (Sailor) Styber, 98, a retired jewelry store owner and operator, died Monday, May 10, 2004, at a Havre care center. Cremation will take place and at her request there will not be any services.
Mildred was born on July 4, 1905, in Great Falls to Clinton and Stella (Woolery) Sailor. She was raised on a ranch north of Gildford and attended country schools. She
graduated from Havre High School in 1923.
In 1925, she married Louis Styber and the couple made their home in Delano, Calif., where their son Bob was born. Mildred worked with her husband, who was a watchmaker at their two jewelry stores until their retirement. After her husband's death, Mildred returned to Havre. In 1995, she entered the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, which then became the Northern Montana Care Center. The family wishes to thank her Northern Montana Care Center family for the many years she was cared for with love, dignity and respect by the entire staff.
Mildred was an expert horsewoman. She owned horses and rode throughout her life. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, the Eastern Star, and the World War I Widows of America.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Louis in 1973; son, Robert in 2002; granddaughter, Debra Dash in 2003; parents; siblings, Madge Stevenson, Marian Anderson, Howard Sailor and Floyd Sailor.
Survivors include her granddaughter, Cindy (Steve) Wright of Marietta, Ga .; grandson, Robert L. Styber of San Francisco, Calif .; great-grandsons, Daniel Wright and Thomas Dash; nephews, Floyd Hamilton of San Diego, Calif., and Terry Stevenson of Hingham; and niece, Laurel Knapp of Havre.
Arrangements are under the direction of Holland and Bonine Funeral Home.
