DEER LODGE - Ronald David Fuhrman, 55, died Thursday, April 29, 2004, at a Missoula hospital of a brain hemorrhage.
A funeral service was held at Powell County High School Sunday afternoon. Burial will be in Glasgow at a later date.
Ronald was born
Nov. 28, 1948, in Glasgow to Allie Mae (Squires) Russell and Ruben Fuhrman.
After graduating from Great Falls High School in 1968, he served in the U.S. Marines and Coast Guard and traveled all over the world. He wrestled and played football for the Marines.
Ronald graduated from Northern Montana College in 1980 with a major in industrial arts and a teaching certificate. He was on the NMC wrestling team. At Northern he discovered his passion - helping kids.
Ron married Peggy Leeds in Havre in 1975.
Ron began his teaching and coaching career in Sidney in 1980. He coached football, wrestling and track. He helped lead the Eagles to their first Class A football state title.
Knowing how much Peggy loved the mountains, he took his next teaching and coaching position at Powell County High School in Deer Lodge in 1985.
Since then, Ron had been teaching industrial arts and coaching football and wrestling. He will be remembered for his commitment and passion for the kids he taught and coached.
Ron was preceded in death by his father, Ruben; grandfather, Harry; and grandmother, Pansie.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy; daughters, Becky of St. Louis Park, Minn., and Jamie of West Orange, N.J.; son, Cody of Deer Lodge; mother and stepfather, Allie and Stanley Russell of Larslan; stepfather, Richard Amdahl of Great Falls; brothers, Bill Fuhrman of Great Falls and Cal Warrington of Deer Lodge; numerous cousins, aunts and uncles; and many loving friends and family.
Jewell Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
