Enjoy a taste of jazz

This year's A Taste of Jazz will feature bassist Clipper Anderson when it hits the state Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Havre High School.

Anderson has been described by Seattle's "Earshot" jazz magazine as "a player for the connoisseur to savor." A native of Polson, he graduated from the University of Montana, where he studied bass with Frank Diliberto. After a professional stint in the Spokane area, he moved to Seattle. Anderson has toured and played with a number of internationally known jazz artists, including Randy and Michael Brecker, Toots Thielemans, Herb Ellis, Bob Mintzer, Dianne Schuur, Freddie Hubbard and James Williams.

Taste of Jazz also will present Havre High's own Jazz Band and performances by the Hi-Liters and Bell Voix. Desserts and beverages, which are part of the ticket price, will be served.A dance area will be provided.

Taste of Jazz is sponsored by Friends of Music, an organization that promotes the music and band programs at Havre High School. Proceeds from the concert will go toward a $1,000 college scholarship to benefit a Havre High student. They also will support summer camp music scholarships, as well as the purchase of new items needed by the music departments.

Tickets are available at Cavaliers, Creative Leisure, J.M. Donoven Designs in Jewelry, and Julie's Hallmark. Single tickets are $5, family tickets $16 and senior citizens' tickets are $4.
