DOROTHEA HAUGE obituary

HAVRE/BIG SANDY - Dorothea E. Hauge, 86, died Friday, April 16, 2004, of natural causes at a Big Sandy nursing home.

Viewing will be 11 a.m. to 4:40 p.m. Tuesday at the Holland and Bonine Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian

Church with the Rev. Zoe Coutts officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. A fellowship will be held at the church immediately following the services at the graveside.

Dorothea was born on Oct. 14, 1917, in Big Sandy to Oscar and Ella (Jones) Miltz. She was raised and educated in Big Sandy and graduated from Big Sandy High School.

Dorothea later attended in University of Washington and received her master's degree in dietary studies. During World War II, she worked for Boeing. Then Dorothea joined the Red Cross and worked as a dietician in Italy and Africa.

She met and married Lester Hauge in Kalispell after World War II. After the war, Lester attended school at the University of Montana in Missoula to study law, and Dorothea taught home economics.

Dorothea was a member of PEO Chapter AZ in Havre, the quilt guild and the First Presbyterian Church.

Three years ago, Dorothea returned to Big Sandy to reside at the Big Sandy Nursing Home, where she received wonderful care from an exceptional staff.

Dorothea was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lester Hauge; son, Lane Hauge in 2003; and brothers, Oscar Miltz and Emery Miltz.

Survivors include her son, Dr. Lester (Dorothy) Hauge of Cortez, Fla.; daughter, Mary Louise (Bob) Haney of Spokane, Wash.; 11 grandchildren; two nieces; and two nephews.

Services and arrangements are under the direction of Holland and Bonine Funeral Home.
