Northside body still not ID'd

The Hill County Sheriff's Office is waiting for forensic tests to shed some light on the human remains that were unearthed behind a North Havre residence last week.

"It is still under investigation. I don't know who it is at this time," Hill County Sheriff Greg Szudera said Thursday.

The skeletal remains, as well as some fabric and a belt, have been sent to the State Crime Lab in Missoula for analysis. There, scientists should be able to determine the gender and approximate age, as well as how long ago the person died and possibly the cause of death, Szudera said.

The Sheriff's Office earlier this week looked into speculation by several callers that the remains were those of Cheryl Lambert, a young Havre woman who disappeared in 1972. Szudera said he does not believe that the remains recovered are those of Lambert.

"I took a photo of Cheryl Lambert, and looked at the teeth placement of Cheryl and looked at the teeth pattern in the skull and they did not match," Szudera said. "From my point of view, I don't think it's Cheryl Lambert."

The remains were unearthed April 3 from the side of a gully in North Havre while brothers Rex and Norman Boucher were using a skidsteer to level ground behind their homes on 15th Street North.
