MARY GUEVARA obituary

Mary Patricia Guevara, 79, died Saturday, April 3, 2004, at a Great Falls hospice due to renal failure.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the St. Jude Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert D.

Grosch officiating. A fellowship luncheon will be held immediately following the service at the VFW.

Memorials in Mary's honor may be made to the St. Jude Parish Center, 624 Fourth St., Havre, MT 59501, or to Peace Hospice, 1101 26th St., Great Falls, MT 59405.

Mary was born Dec. 27, 1924, in St Albans, Vt., to Hubert and Nellie (Bressette) Maynard. She was raised and educated in St. Albans and graduated from Bellows Free Academy. She went to work for the United States Immigration in St. Albans.

Mary married Jose Guevara in November of 1954. Jose was in the military and the family lived in many different states such as Vermont, Missouri, Texas, Spain, and Newbury, N.Y. They moved to Havre in 1970, where they have lived the last 34 years. Mary worked for John C. Bryant CPA and Dick Scharfe CPA until she retired in the 1980s.

Mary enjoyed her grandchildren, knitting, baseball, sewing, reading and volunteering at the hospital. She collected lady bugs, spoons, old people, art and rocking horses. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church. Mary loved to travel and try new things.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and her son, Steven Guevara in January 2001.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Jose Guevara of Havre; daughters, Elena (Mitch) Crilly of Helena, Elisa (Don) Westelin of Westminster, Calif., Myra Due of Kissimmee, Fla., and Nancy (Bill) Abel of Miles City; grandsons, Kenny Due in the U.S. Army stationed in Iraq, Andrew and Adam Abel of Miles City, and Joseph Westelin of Westminster, Calif.; sisters, Claire (Bill) Owens of Santa Anna, Calif., Carol (Roger) Luneau of St. Albans, Vt.; and many nieces and nephews.
