SPOKANE, Wash. - The Rev. Jack Harrington, 89, formerly of Havre, died Friday, March 5, 2004, at Spokane.
A funeral Mass was held March 12 at Jesuit House in Spokane with interment at Mount St. Michael Cemetery.
Harrington was born in Los Angeles, Calif.
He entered the Society of Jesus in 1936. After completing his studies at Sheridan, Ore., he began philosophy studies at Mount St. Michael's, Spokane, in September 1939. He taught at Gonzaga Preparatory School and Gonzaga University from 1942 to 1945. He studied theology at Alma College in California from 1945 to 1949. He was ordained in St. Mary's Cathedral in San Francisco in 1948. He taught at Seattle University and at Gonzaga University from 1951 to 1975.
Harrington was parochial vicar at St. Jude Parish in Havre from 1975 to 1994. He was in residence at St. Francis Xavier Church in Missoula from 1994 to 2000. He had been a resident of the Regis Community in Spokane since 2000.
Survivors include his stepbrothers, Clem Washborn, Norman Flerchinger and Edward Flerchinger; and stepsisters, Katie Sandmeyer and Pattie Lou Shirley.
Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
