MSU-Northern football adds four more recruits

Montana State University-Northern football coach Mark Samson continues to add to his first recruiting class with the addition of four athletes.

Standout Fort Benton linebacker/fullback Kennedy Anderson (6-0, 220) has signed an NAIA national letter of intent to play for the Lights. Anderson is a versatile performer, who earned all-state honors on both sides of the football. He was also selected to play in the MonDak, East-West Shrine and Class B All-Star games.

Also signing to play for Northern was defensive end/tight end Tyson Henley (6-2, 220) of Harlowton High School. Henley was an all-conference performer for the Engineers this past season.

Samson also added all-state offensive lineman Russ Hilton (6-2, 225) of Great Falls High, who Samson

coached against this past season.

Perhaps the biggest signing is running back Saxton Shearer (6-0, 190) of Bulington High School in

Burlington, Wash.

Shearer, who played for his father Bruce at Burlington, was named the 2003 Gatorade Player of the year in Washington. He also earned all-state honors at running back as well as kick returner.

"We are pleased with our recruiting class so far, but we still have some good players looking at our program," Samson said. "We expect to sign some more soon. Our recruiting is definitely ongoing."
