Solomon, Ophus named to Mon-Dak game

Two local players will be representing the state of Montana in the the 2004 Knights of Columbus Badlands Bowl football game to be played June 19 at Denton Field in Miles City.

Havre High senior Daine Solomon was chose as a wide receiver for the game. Solomon led the Ponies in receptions, yards receiving, yards per catch and touchdown receptions this year while earning Class A all-state honors.

Joining Solomon is Big Sandy's Mason Ophus, who will play defensive line. Ophus, who signed with Montana State to play football, was an all-state performer at both tight end and defensive end for the Pioneers, which finished second in Class C.

Also on the squad is MSU-Northern recruit Marc Samson, who was the Class AA defensive player of the year.

Montana leads the all-star series 8-2 over North Dakota.
